A zoom for musicians, actors, performers, dancers? When it comes to more than just linguistic communication over distance, higher demands quickly arise: How is it possible to make the transmission so time-saving that musicians can play together? And this with high sound quality? And how can dancing bodies see and feel each other in such a way that they interact productively?
Jam sessions between distant spaces or simultaneous performances between stages at different locations have specific requirements. Based on the findings and experiences of a research group at ZHdK, support from swissuniversities and Digital Skills & Spaces from Zurich University of the Arts has made it possible to publish the self-developed tools, compile manuals for their operation, and shoot a series of video tutorials explaining both technical and aesthetic aspects.
